This rug is coming from the 1930s. The rug is covered with symbols of birds. The bird is the most mysterious symbol in Anatolian kilim motifs. In dependence on the city the meaning of the symbol changes from protection against bad eye into enteral life and a strong belief in God. Every bird is also shown in a different way. Probably, this rug was used for praying. Sides of the rug are decorated with S letters-the first letter of the word love in Turkish. It may have two meanings: love to family and a strong desire to protect family members or love to God, if the rug was used for praying.
